A 200-bed regional hospital needed to move patients through ED and into beds faster — without adding staff or breaking compliance.

The challenge

Peak hours felt like chaos. Triage was manual and slow; bed assignment depended on who had a free whiteboard. Admins had no single view of where each patient was in the journey. Wait times crept up, and the board kept asking for “better flow” without a clear way to get there.

What we built

We designed a custom patient-flow layer that sits on top of their existing EMR. It ingests real-time admission, triage, and discharge events; predicts likely bed need and discharge windows; and suggests optimal next steps. Triage staff get a simple, role-based dashboard. Bed managers see a live map of capacity and recommended assignments. Everything stays inside their secure, compliant environment.

Results

Within three months, average ED-to-bed time dropped by roughly 28%. Bed utilization improved without adding beds. Staff stopped chasing paper and whiteboards — they had one place to look. The hospital is now rolling the same logic into elective scheduling to smooth the rest of the week.
